Life at Relish: My Top 5 Favorite Restaurants Within Walking Distance of Relish Marketing

Our Design Manager, Ryan Fitzpatrick, shares his favorite places to grab a bite to eat within walking distance of our office in Decatur.

I want to start this off with a disclaimer: Choosing my top 5 restaurants in Decatur was like choosing my favorite children. There are so many fantastic places to eat; it’s a great problem to have. Decatur, where’s it greater – I love you and your deliciousness. Without further ado, here’s my top 5 (in no particular order):

The Corner Pub. Also known as Relish’s upstairs satellite campus or “Relish North” (the owners even made us a plaque because they are awesome). The Corner Pub is our closest neighbor and a favorite place for offsite meetings. TCP really takes pub food to the next level. Their daily specials are always a delicious surprise and whoever makes the soups is simply a culinary genius.

Brick Store Pub. The holy grail of craft beer. With hundreds of the best beers around and a constantly changing beer menu, each trip is a unique and wonderful experience. They also happen to have my favorite cheeseburger in the city – or anywhere.

Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards. Games. I love games. I also love delicious food and self-brewed beer. Did I mention games? Twain’s has it all. Billiards, darts and shuffleboard paired with a pub that makes its own beer and kills it in the kitchen. You can’t go wrong here.

The Pinewood. This is where I go for the finer things in life. Fancy foods and fancy cocktails, The Pinewood is delicious sophistication. My favorite cocktail in the city is served here: Goonies Never Say Die!, made with “Very Old Barton Bourbon, Ginger, Lime, Velvet Falernum, and Grains of Paradise.” Try it on #WhiskeyWednesday #HalfPricedWhiskey.

Raging Burrito. They roll fatties here. Seriously – their burritos are HUGE! There’s a lot to love about this place: the guac, the queso, the different salsas they invent and let you have for free. And it sounds crazy, but my favorite thing on the menu is their Thai salad. Thai salad at a burrito place? A little odd. But I’m telling you – get it. You’ll thank me. It’s probably the only salad I can think of that I get excited for. Also, Raging has the best outdoor patio in Decatur!
