Core Dance Environmental Graphics Installation
Core Dance, an artistic performance company, was looking to differentiate its combined studio and office space, located in two adjacent buildings in downtown Decatur, GA. Although the organization had occupied a prominent space on the heavily-trafficked square for 31 years, guests and patrons had difficulty finding it. Existing directional and brand signage felt small and disconnected. There was little to differentiate the studio from the offices. Even guests parking directly behind the building had no indication of where Core Dance’s offices and performance space were actually located.
After conducting a full site survey, Relish designed and installed vinyl graphics and vertical banners that identified the studio and office space individually, while unifying the two buildings as one cohesive organization. Primarily functional in nature, the design included key elements of the recently updated Core brand (also developed by Relish). This provided a great opportunity to introduce the new brand of Core Dance to the public.
We selected a special heat-sensitive vinyl to mimic the appearance of painted brick while providing greater durability than paint. This enabled the building graphics to fit in well with the style of the area’s other historic buildings and match the look and feel of Core’s new banners.
With the installation of these new environmental graphics, the studio and offices have become much more easily identifiable and accessible to artists and visitors. The overall Core complex has a fresher, more cohesive look and feel. And the company has seen a significant increase in overall brand awareness.

A Logo Refresh for Relish
Just because a logo design is aesthetically appealing, doesn’t mean it’s practical or easy to use. The former Relish logo, bold with its bright colors, block typography and spherical accents, wasn’t the best choice for replication across all kinds of marketing and brand collateral. The logo needed an update.
A new logo would need to render seamlessly between print and web assets. It would have to be able to be modified to suit any destination format: presentations, email signatures, sales sheets, webpages, etc. Following the same process used when we provide brand redesign services to our clients, Relish developed a new logo.
The logo redesign involved standardizing the color palette from several colors to just one, which made the logo more production friendly. The typography changed from Diavlo to Trend Sans, which ensured a more readable and legible logo, especially in smaller sizes and digital applications. And the old circle was ditched to expand where the logo could be applied, which meets the functional need for an infinite format-friendly design.
A simpler and cleaner logo that matches new design branding guidelines and can shift its form depending on the piece of collateral it’s being used for. With this new look, Relish continues to be intentional, be sensational and most of all: savor our brand.
